Should I keep going?

I haven't posted anything in a long while. Not because there isn't anything to talk about but because I haven't felt like it and I honestly don't know how many people beyond like 3 or 4 are actually reading it. Do you miss my entries? Should I keep blogging more?

Not enough Shadowrun

With the Shadowrun Kickstarter winding down I realized I needed to write about it more. It has been getting a lot of coverage in unexpected places. Partially for the community around it but also for the memories and old school fondness for the various versions of the game itself.

Meanwhile some other Shadowrun games for 4th edition and 3rd edition have getting a bit more attention even though they were announced earlier.

Anyways just 3 more days till they finish their funding blowout and we start eagerly awaiting the return of the old Shadowrun!

Uh oh... Homeland security at your door

Because you totally trust the U.S. government right? They just want to be able to see what data you have on your video game console. Be careful what games you play.... Any of those games that contain the word terrorist too much (Counter-Strike?) and maybe you will be on the watch list.

Does anyone at the U.S. government know what the 4th amendment says?

Your colonial water skiing assassins'

I had hoped it was just a bad joke... but no. Assassins' Creed 3 really is set in the American Revolution. It seems to me what one may call a "Jumping the Shark" moment. Anyways, I will let weregeek say it best for me:

NASA is pathetic and...

NASA helps develop the Angry Birds space game thus proving that NASA does everything put manned space exploration. Millions of dollars for muslim outreach, video game development, and terrestrial weather research all check. The famed space agency which once put a man on the moon almost half a century ago however is not capable of putting any human beings into actual space but instead depends on spacecraft from former soviet republics.

It makes me truly sad to be an American to see how pathetic of a country I am inheriting.

Still here and opposing SOPA

I didn't black out the site. I would give you some long excuse, but the reality is I'm too lazy to put the code in and take it out for handful of people who visit my blog daily. So my better idea is to do something that will last longer anyways.

Do you know what SOPA and PIPA are? Well you got here to reading this with the internet so it is in your best interest if you do.

Lego Heroica Fortaan

It has been a while, but finally here is a new Youtube video from me:

You got some religious bigotry in your game...

I've become alarmed and rather frustrated with a bunch of games lately that I find are full of Anti-Christian and Anti-Jewish bigotry. I've been looking for a new roleplaying game to get a group together that isn't D&D or Shadowrun third edition. I see a lot of otherwise great games ruined by their bigotry towards most of the people of the world.

R.I.P. December 27, 2011

Rest in Peace Go-Daddy (who thought internet censorship was a good idea) and Ocean Marketing (Customer service shouldn't belittle their customers) which are both companies circling round the toilet bowl today.

Lessons for any company that wants to stay in business. Learn who your customers are, be nice to them and don't try to screw them over with government intrusion. Also, treat your customers with respect. Word of mouth was damaging to companies a couple thousand years ago. With the invention of the internet, Word of Mouth got a lot more powerful.

What games do you want?

It is almost Christmas time so lets see some wishlists. Even if you know you won't get it, what do you want that is currently out? For me it is these in no particular order:

  • Serious Sam 3 (PC)
  • The One Ring: Adventures Over the Edge of the Wild (Tabletop RPG)
  • Those Who Walked Amongst Us (Tabletop RPG)
  • Kirby's Return to Dreamland (Wii)
  • Deus Ex (PC)
  • The Oregon Trail (Wii)
  • More models for Anima Tactics
  • Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (Wii)

Feel free to post some of your own lists.

This is how you stop online "Piracy"

Serious Sam: BFE "Begone Freeloading Enemies" has introduced a clever way of dealing with pirates. Stick an unkillable foe that follows them and torments them in the game. Way to go Croteam!

A Touch of Evil

So for the last two months "A Touch of Evil" has been the game of choice for my local group of gamers on a friday night. This game by Flying Frog Productions seems to hit all the key points for use to enjoy it. Wonderfully thematic like Arkham Horror, "A Touch of Evil" is very hammer horror movie inspired. It has the roleplaying feel of an in-depth Fantasy Flight game but is far simpler to setup and play so that the Eurogame fans in our group are willing to play it. It has competitive, cooperative, and team play to satisfy all of us. In fact we have so far been playing almost entirely team based.
